Parents’ association

Gillotts Parents’ Association aims to support the school by raising funds for special projects and by creating a supportive community of parents around the school.

We have recently funded a new all-weather shelter for the students, raised funds for the purchase of 30 Raspberry Pis and new gym mats for the PE department. The PA also provided the school with its two mini buses.

We warmly encourage all parents join us. Whether you just want to hear about social events, are happy to help out every now and again, or you’d like to join the committee and get involved, we would love to hear from you. Please feel free to drop in to our next meeting, listed below.

To join our mailing list or for any enquiries please email

You can also join our Facebook page – just search for Gillotts Parents Association and ask to join the group. You will not only hear about events, but also about school news and successes that your children may forget to mention!

Quiz Night!

Our biggest fundraiser of 2017!

Over 100 parents, governors and staff took part in the Gillotts Parents’ Association annual quiz last weekend and raised over £3000 for the school!

In a fun, but highly competitive night, 12 teams of parents took on the Quizzards of Oz, a team of Gillotts staff and school governors.

For many years now, former parents, Steven and Jane Galvin have returned to host the evening with a fantastic quiz. Rounds included the traditional and challenging science, literature and music, but also picture rounds, dingbats, logos, guess the address and a practical lego making task! The couple continue to be big supporters of the school and the Parents’ Association is hugely grateful for their continued involvement.

The quiz was closely fought with the Quizzards of Oz finally taking the lead and victory in the last round. The team were presented with their ‘cups’ and Winners Cupcakes, especially made and decorated for the occasion by Nicola Taylor, of Lawlors The Bakers. Headteacher, and victorious team captain Catharine Darnton said, “It was not our intention to win but it is always a relief to do well given we are trusted with the education of the next generation!  Huge thanks to all the parents for their incredible generosity throughout the night.”

The quiz once again raised much needed funds for the school with many generous local businesses, organisations and individuals donating prizes and ‘experiences’ for the Lucky Dip and Silent Auction. Alex Baker from the Parents’ Association thanked the local community and commented that the fantastic prizes on offer really encouraged brisk bidding from the crowd and contributed a massively to the brilliant final total of funds raised. The Parents’ Association would like to extend their thanks to the following wonderful donors:

The Baskerville Restaurant, The Bell Bookshop, The Best Turkish Barber Shop, Bikeability, Boden, Brook House, Brookstones Property Solutions, Central Home, Checkendon Equestrian Centre, Chiltern Valley Winery & Brewery, Cook, The Five Horseshoes, The Crooked Billet, Fenella Smith, Gayle Nicholson, Reflexologist, Gibbs & Dandy, Gillotts Leisure Centre, Greggs the Baker, Jo Hayley, Your Image and Beauty, Henley Car Valeting, Henley Cycles, Henley Rowing Club, Hennerton Golf Club, Henley Golf Club, Hobbs of Henley, Jewsons, The Kenton Theatre, Colin Main, Head coach at Henley Tennis Club, Gabriel Machin Butchers, Henley Nails & Brows, Newtown Garage, Opera Prelude, John Howell MP, Reids Dry Cleaning, Robinson Sherston Estate Agents, Stubbings Nursery, Space NK, The Spice Merchant, Starbucks, The Henley Mayor, Temptation Gifts, Tesco, The Tree Barn, Vinegar Hill

Over the past few years the funds raised from the quiz have been used to provide an outdoor shelter for students, transport for sports events, Raspberry Pi computers, gym mats, musical equipment, an outdoor table tennis table, benches and picnic tables around the site.

The Gillotts Parents’ Association is a charity run by parents of Gillotts students whose aim is to raise funds and create a supportive community around the school. If you would be interested in supporting the PA in any capacity please contact
